According to SEICAP (Spanish Society of Clinical Immunology, Allergology and Pediatric Asthma), << immunodeficiencies are immune deficits. That is, a sequence of diseases caused by a malfunction of our body’s defenses against infections. Because of this malfunction, infections are increasingly serious and, in addition, respond poorly to treatments >>.
There are different types of Immunodeficiency.
1- Primary immunodeficiencies  and congenital immunological errors are the most subjected to innumerable investigations. New cases are continually discovered that according to AEDIP (Spanish Association of Primary Humanitarian Deficits), are added to a classification prepared by a committee of experts in the field, with the support of IUIS (International Union of Immunological Societies)
At present we can find a group of more than 150 diseases that belong to the IDP (primary immunodeficiencies), and almost all are hereditary or caused by genetic errors.

Ganoderma lucidum possesses immunomodulatory properties, strengthening the immune system  and preventing diseases caused by immunodeficiency. In addition, it slows the progression of cancer cells.
For this reason the newspapers devote their pages to this mushroom, and define it as << a superfood with antioxidant powers and a great strengthening of the immune system >>.

A clinical study conducted with laboratory mice shows that Ganoderma polysaccharides improve the immune function of their cells .
After another study carried out with children suffering from cancer, it was found that the high concentrations of Ganoderma extract could have very toxic effects on the cells of our body, thus slowing down the disease . The constant search for alternative treatments as a response to a stimulation in the immune system leads to studies like this that we show, in which natural products derived from plants and fungi such as Ganoderma offer great perspectives as immunomodulatory agents .
