WHO plans Espirulina as one of the most preventive and curative elements of nutrition in the 21st century.
Spain is the second European country with more obese people. China, the US, Mexico, Brazil, India … are countries that join the large list of overweight citizens.
And this has just started …
The forecast is devastating. And the thing is the trend towards obesity is increasing at a speed, << according to the general director of the World Health Organization (Dr. Margaret Chan) >>, terrifying.
The magazine uc3m (Spanish Journal of Communication of the Department of Journalism and Audiovisual Communication of the Carlos III University of Madrid together with the Spanish Association of Health Communication), published in January of this year an article with an alarming phrase: << The number of people with obesity has grown globally from 105 million people in 1975 to 640 in 2016 >>
“If current food trends do not change, it is expected that 20% of the world population will be obese by 2025”
These data published by the Spanish magazine Uc3m are chilling.
Giving a solution on time is not an easy task but with luck and taking measures we can achieve it.
Spirulina maxima helps control body weight and excessive fat accumulation. (Due to phenylalanine, it reduces the appetite at brain level).
“A great ally for our diet, if we want to lose weight”
The first clinical and biochemical evaluation of this microalga with respect to its application in the treatment of obesity, was carried out by Dr. E.W. Becker, author of the book << Microalgae: Biotechnology and Microbiology (Cambridge Studies in Biotechnology) >>, in the year 1986. It is a double blind cross-over study carried out with 15 volunteers during 4 weeks with a treatment of 200 mg of Spirulina a day. At the end of the treatment, there was a significant decrease in body weight of the 15 participants.
More recent studies confirm the effectiveness of Spirulina against obesity. Specifically, this study published in April of this year, in the journal BioMed Central: << The effects of Spirulina Platensis on anthropometric indexes, appetite, lipid profile and serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in obese subjects : a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial >>. After completing the study, it was concluded that the consumption of Spirulina as a food supplement is effective in the prevention and disorders of obesity.
Some researchers have named Spirulina maxima “a superfood”.
