Spirulina as an antioxidant

The antioxidant that gives light to your body and your look.

Aging is a natural process that we all have to go through. It is unavoidable. But there are ways to delay it, so it comes slowly and without causing major injuries in our body.

Vitamin E plays an important role against cell aging. The result is visible on the outside and inside.

Due to its great antioxidant power:

  1. It facilitates the widening of blood vessels. By causing this widening, its consumption decreases the risk of heart problems, as it intervenes in the improvement of blood circulation and helps prevent the appearance of clots.
  2. Reduces the possibility of suffering muscle injuries [1] This finding, after a study conducted for 5 months to first-class cyclists, indicates once again, the protective effect of this vitamin against oxidative stress, during extreme exercise.
  3. Involved in strengthening the immune system of our body.
  4. It favors the regeneration of our wounds and prevents eye diseases.

The antioxidant role [2] of Spirulina Maxima is the subject of innumerable studies. Recently, a research has been carried out to evaluate the photoprotective effect of a sunscreen with Spirulina [3]. After three months investigating the response of 44 healthy subjects (30 to 50 years old), measuring water content, transepidermal loss, elasticity and pigmentation, it was found that sun protection improved both the loss of collagen in the skin and its elasticity and pigmentation.

After almost three months of treatment the study was a success.

No doubt Spirulina as an antioxidant supplement was an excellent protection, compared to other protectors, against sun damage.

Dysfunctional immunity and oxidative stress are the main causes of many of our diseases, causing:

  • Cardiac hypertrophy
  • Heart failure
  • Hypertension or high blood pressure.

Recent studies confirm the antioxidant power and the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of Spirulina Maxima both in humans and in living beings. This is mainly due to phycocyanin and β-carotene. Two large molecules that are part of the structure of Spirulina.

Understanding the capabilities of this microalga is a therapeutic reality that goes beyond nutritional supplements and places this microalga on the list of possible treatments against important diseases
